Past Projects

Projects that I’ve done / created / had a hand in through the years. This is by no means a complete picture, but does contain projects worthy of mention.

Python Social Media App

An application built for one of the modules of my Masters. Written in Python and interfacing with both the Twitter API and the Facebook Graph API to send out tweets and messages to both Twitter and Facebook within a simple GUI interface. It utilised the guizero interface for the GUI and included calls to other API’s such as WordNet to get synonyms and display sentiment analysis of the outgoing messages.

Microsoft Power Apps – RHOCS App

An application built with Microsoft Power Apps by myself, that allows students studying Computer Science to access their test grades, take mini tests and access revision materials all from one app. The app was built from the ground up to be used on a mobile device, so that students could access information and revision materials on the go even if they did not have a desktop or laptop computer.

N.B – as this was used in a live environment, names and company logos have been blurred

Sound Spiral

Implementing the computer systems that ran a 52 channel surround sound system in a giant inflatable structure as part of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad.

Cricket Asylum

Setting up the computer and network systems for an indoor Cricket centre in Sowerby Bridge that relied on PitchVision technology to track the balls and provide real time feedback to both bowlers and batsman to improve their performance.

XL Pro Acoustic Colour Panels

Designing and producing coloured acoustic sound absorption panels as part of my company product portfolio.  At the time of design there were very few coloured acoustic foam panels available on the market at a reasonable price.  These panels were designed to be cost effective while offering fantastic sound absorption properties and remaining easy on the eye. To make the application of these tiles easy for customers they had very strong self adhesive backings.  These were made available in red, blue, white, black and green.

XL Pro Systems Digital Audio Workstations

With the demise of Sound Control and Turnkey also came the demise of the Carillon Computer brand of DAW (though they later set themselves up again as an independent company).  Spotting a gap in the market I designed, produced specifications for and built the XL Pro Systems brand of digital audio workstations with a target market of audio professionals, composers and audio enthusiasts who wanted a rock solid computer system for audio production purposes.

This involved procuring silent and reliable components that all worked together seamlessly.    All systems could be independently modified and made bespoke depending on the customers needs or budget.
